@I think visiting Kyushu Island is a must for travellers
to Japan. In Kyushu, all the elements of Japanese modern or traditional,
natural or artificial features can be found. While the bustling
city of Fukuoka provides you an image of the prosperity of modern
Japan, the peaceful paddy field and warm hearted local hospitality
of Southern Kyushu heals everyone who visits there. While the
incredible variety of hot springs and open air bathes represents
the rich natural endowments, elaborated theme parks such as Huis
Ten Bosch (Holland Village) and Seagaia (Seaside resort) will
not keep you feel bored. Furthermore, very few places in Japan
retains more traditional features such as ancient rituals, folk
articrafts and Japanese style wooden housings than Kyushu. In
fact, Kyushu is one of the most well visited area in Japan by
Asian neighbors from Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong. After this July,
when Kyushu & Okinawa host G8 summit meetings, I believe many
Westerners will be attracted in this area as well.
@In March, 2000. I made a week round-the island
trip to Kyushu with my wife and brother in law, both are from
Australia. (Amazingly, Kyushu is quite a big island. It is almost
the size of Netherlands, Belgium or Taiwan). Here is a travel
records of us. Let us enjoy and share the great memories in this
miracle island.
